September 30- Orange Shirt Day

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day—September 30th, is a day to honour residential school survivors and their families and reflect on the residential school system in Canada.

Homework September 23-27

Spelling words for this week are: one girl have back tap We are focusing on the short a sound this week (-an, -at, -ack, -am, -ap, -an, etc.) Our mathematicians this week will be continuing to represent numbers in various ways. We will start to explore doubles this week as well. Doubles are all around us, if you can help your child spot doubles in the environment that would be great, for examples spiders have 8 legs, two equal sides 4+4. Food Bans at Glen Stewart

Foods Bans at Glen Stewart School Attention Parents and Guardians, Due to severe food allergies, the following items are not permitted inside Glen Stewart Primary. Additional items for specific classes will be added to this list and classroom teachers will communicate this directly as needed.  Sesame-based food products including : Multi-Grain products such as: Multi-Grain Breads, Bagels, and Crackers.  Foods containing sesame oil. Hummus Sushi Multi-Grain Bagels Sesame Seeds Please Note: White and whole wheat breads, bagels and crackers are permitted. Sunflower Food Products including : Sunflower Seeds Sun Butter Foods containing sunflower seeds; highly refined sunflower oils are permitted (chips, goldfish, etc.). All nuts and peanuts including: All tree nuts and tree nut spreads. All peanuts and peanut spreads. All products that are considered peanut substitutes such as Wow Butter. All seafood .

Homework September 16- 20

Homework Sept 16-20 Spelling words for this week are: 1 ) they 2) said 3) was 4) man 5) sat Books should be at each student's independent level and should be quite easy for your child to read. If you feel that the books are too easy or too difficult, please put a little not in the log, as reading levels may have changed over the summer and may need to be adjusted to find the appropriate ones. Also, please send books and homework bags back and forth to school everyday, so we can use these books for other activities throughout the day.  Thank you, Mrs. MacLean and Mrs. Murnaghan

Picture Day- Sept 16

We put a flyer in your child’s homework bag, but just in case, tomorrow Monday, September 16 is picture for grade 2s.

FYI

Information regarding pickups and drop offs   Parents who are picking up their children after school, must do so in the lobby.  Parents are not permitted in the bus loop and cannot pick their children up in this area. Parents who are dropping their children off in the morning, please let them out of their cars close to the metal barriers near the exit area of the drop off loop. Parents are not permitted t o enter the staff parking areas. Bus Notes There will be no bus notes given to students to support after school playdates or recreational activities.  Our buses are full and cannot accommodate these requests.  Lunch Program Our hot lunch program will start on Monday  the 16 th . 

Breakfast Program

FYI An official start-up date for the Breakfast Program has yet to be decided, but we hope to have it up and running soon. If parents are interested in volunteering, please email Dave Kerwin ( dakerwin@edu.pe.ca ).

Welcome to a brand new school year! We are very excited to be teaching 2A this year. We have a great group of students and cannot wait to see where our school year takes us.   We will be using this blog to keep you up to date on information regarding class trips, homework, school announcements/ policies and celebrations.
