Parent- Teacher Interviews

Parent-Teacher interviews are just around the corner and Glen Stewart parents should use our online booking system to set up their interview times. All parents will need to set up an account on this system. Even parents who used the system last year will need to set up a new account for this year. Halloween Parade

On Thursday, October 31, students are asked to arrive at school wearing their costumes.  We will be having an in-school parade starting at 9:00 am.  Students are also reminded that no masks or plastic weapons are allowed.  

Homework for October 28-30

There will be no homework Halloween night! Spelling words for this week are: 1. want 2. shook 3. friend 4. fun 5. puck We are focusing on the short u   sound this week!

Homework October 21-25

Spelling words for this week are: 1. have 2. with 3. them 4. lock 5. not We will be staying with short o sound this week. Math: This week we will continue to focus on our skip counting. It would be awesome if you could practice and encourage your children to count forward and backwards by 1s to 100; count forwards and backwards by 2s to 100; count forwards and backwards by 5s to 100. The more practice with these skills at home the more fluent their counting will become.

Fall Art Project and Patterns!

We had a pretty creative week in 2A! Mrs. Murnaghan and our students worked on patterns (socks) with these scary witches. While Mrs. MacLean and our students made fall leaves using pastel chalk and warm tones.

Homework October 15- 18

Spelling words for the week are: 1. are 2. here 3. jump 4. because 5. hop We are focusing on the short o  sound this week (og, ot, op, etc.) Math: This week we will continue to focus on our skip counting. It would be awesome if you could practice and encourage your children to count forward and backwards by 1s to 100; count forwards and backwards by 2s to 100; count forwards and backwards by 5s to 100. The more practice with these skills at home the more fluent their counting will become. We will start to talk about estimating and patterns this week.

Homework October 7-10

Spelling words for this week are: thing with  because little  pin We are focusing on the short i sound this week (it (ch), in, ick) Math: This week we will be focusing more on our skip counting. It would be awesome if you could practice and encourage your children to count forward and backwards by 1s to 100; count forwards and backwards by 2s to 100; cound forwards and backwards by 5s to 100. The more practice with these skills at home the more fluent their counting will become. We will also start building on our addition strategies. The strategy this week is numbers that make 10 (9+1, 7+3, 6+4, etc).

Reminder

Just a reminder that we do not have a class microwave to heat up student’s lunches.

Homework September 30- October 3

Spelling words for this week are: will them boy fed yell We are focusing on the  short e sound  this week (-ed, -eg, -ell, -en, -ent, etc.) Math: Our mathematicians this week will be working on their doubles and counting on addition strategies. The students have also started a new daily routine, where they are discovering the number of the day through a word problem.
